I'm after some Pikes to go with my new build but unsure whether to go for the coil version or air. Any feedback on both would be gratefully received, thank you.

I have both but I prefer the feel of the Air version. But that might be more to do with TF Tuned having fettled them.

The coils are supposed to be plusher and more reliable but I've never had a single issue either way.

I've had both, not a lot in it to be honest. Air has the plus of being easily set up to match your weight/riding style where as coil is perhaps a touch more reliable.

Both ride very well tho

have not ridden airs but coils are buttery smooth and take a battering.

Swapping out springs to match weight is an easy job, but obv not as easy as precisly tuning air chambers.

I think they are only available new as coil now.

Not used the coil ones but I love my 454 air version ๐Ÿ™‚ Feels really smooth and strong, confidence inspiring.

Thanks guys, it sounds like I can't really go wrong with either.
It'll come down to what's available then, especially if the air version is no longer available.

Had both and prefer the coils.

if you must have air you'll be buying revelations now, unless you get NOS pike airs. only argument against coils is the marginal weight increase and having to fit a different spring if you're other than average weight yourself.

Are you a fettler?

I've had both coil and air.

The coils were 'fit spring, adjust floodgate, set rebound and ride until service time'.

The dual-air ones were 'adjust neg and pos air springs, set floodgate, set rebound, readjust neg air spring to improve sensitivity, re-adjust again, set back to same pressure as pos spring, change again, and again, find a setting and finally leave. Lose some weight and start again. Then service them.

Both forks are good, PUSH'd ones are better.

Still a weighty fork in both guises.

I'm preferring the sound of the coils as I'd rather just fit and forget.
I'm 98kg (but losing it gradually as I'm trying to get back below 90) so assume I'll have to factor in either a firm or extra-firm spring.

Haven't had any problems with my air version, I've fitted and forgot! Aired up to max positive pressure (I'm heavy as well), played around with negative til I found something I liked (about 130-150 as I like my forks a bit less sensitive) and haven't touched anything since.
