Will be heading up to Aviemore tomorrow for a week. Can anyone recommend some local MTB routes in the 3-4hr range, ideally ride from the door rather than using the car. Natural stuff preferred rather than trail centres.
Hit me with what you've got.
Oodles of riding, pop into one on the local shops for maps or head into Rothiemurchus and have an explore. Here’s a wee selection of yesterday and today :

I took my cross bike to Aviemore last year and loved riding around the Rothiemurcus Estate. It's nice and very scenic but not very challenging.
Wish I'd taken my mountain bike and rode more of the local mountain bike trails.
Check out Trail forks for trails.
Also McTrail rider has ridden plenty of trails around Aviemore so you can assess what you fancy. Just search 'McTrail rider Avimore'
You're really spoilt for choice in Aviemore and will have fun pretty much going whichever way you fancy.
Also, the Lairig Ghru is worth a ride/push up and ride back down. Best down either first or last of the day to avoid walkers.
Worth doing a search as there were a couple of detailed threads on this last summer. Perhaps including didnthurt's above?

And most importantly it has links to all the other threads on this last year.>
I'd have responded to this thread earlier but I was bivvying up Cairngorm last night.

If you don't find any inspiration in the various linked threads then I might help with some other ideas. It really depends what you are after. While I will point folk at High Burnside etc I tend to think that you can find similar hand-cut trails in commercial forestry all over the country so it's a shame if that's all you do. Some of the other suggestions - like Burma Road, Glen Eanaich, Glen Feshie - at least expose you to the mountains.
