I'm up in Askrigg in the Yorkshire Dales this weekend... I'm thinking about taking the bike to have a pootle around for two hours or so on the Sunday morning.

Does anyone have any suggestions for routes? I've heard someone on here mention a good descent into Castle Bolton just along the way, but that was before Christmas so I've no idea which one it was now. I long for some proper rocky goodness that Cannock can't offer...

Ta muchly

Phil

"two hours or so"? You wont even get out of the valley!

Can you get a longer pass?

Not really! I'm not after an epic, just a quick blast to the top of a hill and back via a decent trail or two, or something like that...

Try Askrigg, Bainbridge, Semer Water, Stake Allotments, Stake Road, Haw Lane, Folly Lane, Thornton Rust, Nipe Lane, Woodhall, Broomber Fell, Newbiggin.

We're in Hawes all w/e so we'll look out for you.

Hi
I may be riding in Reeth on Sunday morning-its just over the hill from Askrigg!!!
Normally get there for about ten and will be riding for 3-4 hours. If you want to meet up let me know-you could ride with us for a couple of hours then I could point you back to Reeth or stay with us.
The descent you speak of is a good one but will be quite muddy unless it freezes over the weekend.
Cheers
Steve

Then either finish on road or down the Roman Road you started on.

Enjoy! 🙂

Hi fatgit, not sure if that's to me or OP. I can't join you, as I'm off with a relative newbie who wants an easy weekend. It's more of an annual reunion/booze-up than a serious riding weekend. Thanks for the offer - if it was to me.

Are you coming with the undertaker next Friday?

Fagus
It was originally directed at the OP but applies to you too.
The ride wont be that hard and you could dip out at any time if you wanted.
Up to now there is only me and Brian so it should be steady away.
I will be out with the Undertaker-I think there are 4 or 5 of us coming over.
I think we are planning to do the new Whinlatter trails but dont quote me on that.
Cheers

Oh bugger. If only we'd known. We fancied coming to Reeth, but matey wants to hire a bike, so Hawes and Kudu were chosen. Have put you on the list for future reference.

Showers, bike wash, cake. Ideal.

No to worry, next time eh!

Well if you get stuck for hire bikes we do hire Trek Hardtails as well as having a few Fuel EX demo bikes for hire.

Oooo, choices, choices... which hill do I go up? Will the others mind if I "accidentally" stay out longer than I said? 🙂 Thanks all.

fatgit: Thanks for the offer, but I think I'm better staying on this side of the hill for the time being; I've no idea what time I'll be able to get out, or for how long, or if at all (hopefully not that though!)

Phil
