[Closed] RockShox XC30 - oil needed or not ?

I'm about to service my XC30 Solo Air fork, and am now buying the required parts.
Looking at theย service manual, at page 20 it says "The XC 30 fork does not require fluid in the lower leg." .
However, theย oil volume chart, says the fork needs 5+10ml 15wt oil for the lower leg.
Any idea what RockShox is trying to say ?

Maybe it's referring to the XC30 coil not needing fluid? I used oil in my mate's lowers when I did his.

Not sure, there's no servicing manual for the XC30 air version. But I suppose it's the same lower leg assembly on both air and coil types.

You definitely should use oil on a Solo Air.

On the coil version I'm thinking first, the upper is open-ended so there is nothing to push the oil up the lowers and into the bushings, and second it would mix with the grease on the spring.

The thing is that in the oil volume chart both coil and air versions appear to need oil...

Too bad SRAM doesn't provide a contact email address.
