Rockshox finally realising that they could be charging a load of cash for forks with no moving parts. Easy money.

Early leak of an April fools joke (not sure what it is but the ad wording is weird as is Rockshox & rigid forks)???

It's not that weird - DT & White Bros have both made rigid forks.

More that the wording is weird since it suggests something massive ("everything changes") for what looks like a normal rigid fork. That's why I wondered if it might be ironic and an April Fools thing...

Maybe RS are starting to think that suspension is a faff, too expensive and doesn't really add that much to your riding, so they're embracing rigid forks.

I doubt that Singletrack have flown out to Moab for a early April fools product launch! Plus would you bother for a ridged fork?

yeah.... they are slightly over-egging it if it's [i]just[/i] a carbon rigid fork, and the upside-down ref wouldn't make any sense.

And would they also go to Moab to test a rigid fork? Dunno, but seems a bit too gnarr for that.

I am going for some sort of inverted bouncer, although the pic does just look like a carbon cross fork 😕

Presumably an upside-down fork with a modern one-piece carbon steerer/crown would alleviate some of the stiffness issues with old inverted forks. So my money's on a short (ish) travel lightweight Inverted XC fork.

RS wouldn't release rigids - they'd be SRAM or Truvativ- branded if they were to exist.

I think the upside down fork might mean turning things on its head. Hence the everything changes bit.

I thought the problem was, without an arch, the stiffness of the lowers depended on the axle bracing the sliders together? Isn't that why Maverick went for a huge axle?

On the mavericks there's only really the twist direction that there is any play. In every other dimension, they are stiffer than normal forks (that's the DUC though - I haven't tried the SC32s).

Definitely looks more like Lauf. If it is it would be interesting to see if SRAM marketing can turn around the product's success from slightly mixed reviews and quirky interest to the game changer they seem to claim.

Yep, looks likely to me as well. Possibly with a Maxle variant as well.
