Looking at a Mavic Cosmic wheelset on eBay.. It's listed as Campag.
Anyone know if this can be converted to Shimano?
Is it just a case of buying a Shimano freehub body and switching over?
Or are the fittings which the freehubs slot onto different too?
you'll need a mavic shimano free hub. but should be possible.

So the link states:
"Fits only for Mavic rear wheels with FTSL freewheel body"
Anyone know if FTSL is a standard fitting and a campag wheel will have this. I just want to know if I can pull off the campag freehub body and slot on the shimano.. ?
Or is it the case that the campag has a different FREEWHEEL on the hub and, therefore, it's not that simple?
campag and shimano cassettes are not interchangeable. You will need a new freehub body and it will be a mavic item as it has to fit their hub. Whether mavic have more than one freehub mounting system for their hubs i don't know.
It should be as simple as swapping the hub body. But do check you can get one from mavic
They an be a bit funny if you want spares for wheels over 5 years old.
The basic hub shell( bit with apokes atatched )well be the same for shimano or campy
It's just the hub body that changes
ok, thanks. still not 100% sure, though, so will try to clear up with mavic..
Threw my Shimano Mavic Cosmic wheel away about a month ago after pulling a spoke through.
Used to use it with my Campag set up though if that helps.
