from the M4 end, save yourself the hassle of driving in a circle around the housing estate and back to the motorway by following the black triangles on the signs.Wasn't paying too much attention(as most of us do, I suspect), but didn't notice signs saying it was shut from near the exit, just an unworded diversion sign.
Also, after only just recovering from the disaster that was the "no cake at the Drop Off cafe" debacle a few years back, they only did it again today, not sure if i'll ever get over it this time.
We headed into Port Talbot, went along the A48 for a mile and picked up the B road on the opposite side of the Afan valley.

I did the same last week, completely missed the sign coming off the motorway saying the road was closed. Ended up following another car with bikes on and ended up on the B road mentioned above. Was not a fun 15 mins.
Stay on the M4 one more Junction and go up through CwmAfan (iirc) that's the route we took. Oh and the road is properly blocked not just a couple of holes.
