Interesting. Team time trial early on. ITT in a hilly area (out of Pau so foothills rather than full-on mountains.

First rest day is the second TUESDAY.

That Saint Jean de Maurienne to Tignes day will separate the wheat from the chaff.  That'll be a monster day.

Short stage from Albertville to Val Thorens as the last stage? Could be messy

Blimey, they are going to be proper knackered by the end of stage 10

Pity they don't finish stage 18 on Galibier - I likes a mountaintop finish I does

seems to be sticking mostly to hilly regions (except where it's mountainous).  Don't think it's a course designed by/for Cav !

It's not that short. And it has 3500m of climbing.

Any guesses what the Etape du Tour route might be? It doesn't seem to have been announced yet.

Yes it has. Albertville to Val Thorens.

It's a Brexit Tour. Keep the whole thing as far away form the UK as possible!

Thanks Crazy-legs - I was looking on the Route tab which still doesn't seem to show it.

Cremant de Limoux, Blanquette de Limoux, fizzy wine loveliness. Colmar's a nice town too. Not that they'll be doing much boozing or sight-seeing, obvs.

Like it, but could do with an extra itt before a hilly stage to force gc riders to measure their efforts (see Yates in the Giro this year, rode hard at the itt, blew up on the hills the next day).

Like the (hilly) ITT in Pau, the day before the weekend in the mountains (Tarbes - Tourmalet then Limoux - Foix)?

@nbt yeah fair point. Still going to argue for the inclusion of a second itt before a hilly day just because as an arm chair expert I can!😁

Vuelta route announced, and they're *also* having an ITT at Pau (albeit a flat one, up from Jurançon)
