Road shoes to 2 cleat conversions

I've a pretty comfy pair of roady shoes, that since I saw the light and got rid of the road bike, have sat collecting dust. Shimano do a adapter to convert the 3 hole to 2 holes for MTB cleats, has anyone tried it? Obviously the shoes aren't going to be great for any sort of walking off-road, but I've local routes which they could be pressed into use.ย

I've tried them on the turbo. They are a bit crap and plastic. Walking is horrible. Binned them and started using XC shoes. I can see there are other options available that might be better.

Look at the Crank Bros Quattro option too? Fits to a road shoe but gives you a bigger platform. I've not tried, but the CB platform should work with Shimano MTB cleats too.

I used some so I could use my road shoes for spinning classes. They worked but were very cumbersome and felt odd. I ended up just buying some cheap shoes instead.

Heh, not good then? Bought some cheap knock off ones from Amazon just to remind myself to listen to other people's experiences in the first place...

I can only agree with all the other posters, mine were hideously uncomfortable to walk in and even cycle in. I was about to give up when I looked closer I discovered there was a blanking plate that hid 2 bolt slots. I had to find an inner thread plate but that was no problem so I was able to wear them out using Spd cleats. I have never and will never buy anymore road shoes! What road riding I do I use stiffish XC shoes. My roadie mates used to laugh at this but I have noticed as we have got older nearly all have switched to Spds
