My road bike is a modern(ish) carbon Pinarello Prince with Corima wheels, GP5000 25s and Campagnolo groupset. It's an absolute delight to ride. But sometimes if I get back from a 50 miler and find we need some bread or milk from the shop up the road I'll hop on my pub bike which is outside the front door.
It's about 50 years old, 531 frame, 27" wheels and fixed wheel. I've got new Conti 32mm tyres on it and it feels just so smooth and buttery. One day I'm going to do a proper road ride on it (maybe taking off the panniers and mudguards) and I'm certain I'll enjoy it enormously. Which is the point isn't it?

absolutely - and my pride forcing me to push a bit harder than I would do on my own must mean fitness gains are coming - hopefully. the bike is a joy to ride and I have owned it 40 years. Its done many miles with me. Its actually the bike I am most attached to.
