looking to go for a reasonable (40-50 mile) road ride with a mate in a couple of weeks
he lives up in Manchester so I wondered if anyone knows a decent road ride up that way?
or if not, a decent online resource for rides

Greenfield/ Chew Valley/ Holme Moss/ Crowden/ Glossop loop is great.
Also have a look at the routes of the Tour of the Pennines sportives and the Brian Robinson Challenge.

+1 for the holme moss pass. Did it a couple of years ago in the middle of the night and it's an ace view from the top, even in the dark on a clear night.
