....is it possible to use them over mtb shoes, the combo I'm thinking of is the Endura road overshoe with a pair of Specialized BG Comp shoes, will they fit over them? Reason being i don't really want to buy two pairs of overshoes but like the eggbeaters on my Langster so ride/commute on that with my mtb shoes, thanks all. I'll now stand back and awaiting the flaming for the mixing of codes I've suggested above.

Should be fine, road overshoes was all you could get before the rubber fetish stuff started being made

Road overshoes often have cut-outs which only really suit road cleats (e.g. the Gore Race ones). However, there are more generic ones which usually have just a piece of elastic across the instep (e.g. the Gore Oxygen). The latter will fit better and last longer on an MTB/touring shoe.

They'll be fine. I used to do just this with my endura rubbery jobs (but in typical endura fashion, the zips weren't actually up to being used). Just try to line up the gaps I'm the sole (noting that they'll be plenty big enough because road cleats sare much bigger
