I need to change the braking setup on a Canyon Endurance CF SLX 8.0 from the euro setup (left lever operates the front) to UK setup. Being hydraulic, this is a little trickier than cable equivalents.

Any advice of doing this? Into a shop? Is it a big job?

For completeness the brake listed on the spec sheet is a Shimano ST-RS685 / BR-RS805.

Do you know if the hoses have been fitted using a J-Kit?* That will make it a lot simpler.

* - you will know by a join in the hoses around the head-tube area.

Just a warning from experience, if you end up having to bleed them, be very careful not to overtighten the bleed screws when refitting them as they can bind-up very easily, and then be an absolute nightmare to remove. Otherwise it's a fairly simple job if a J-kit is fitted, a bit more fiddly if not (re-taping bars, and working in tight spaces).

I just got a bike like this and luckily they had the connectors on the cables at the front of bike.

Watched a GCN video on how to do it and seemed pretty straightforward and think they will be fine without a bleed, but I’ve got the shop to send me the bleed kit anyway.

Was more surprised they delivered it this way tbh, thought the shop should have done it before sending it. Although they clearly didn’t bother setting the shifting up properly either.

One note was the video showed no fluid dripping out of the top connectors when removed but there was definitely fluid leaking when I removed them so had someone on hand to quickly hold them horizontal so no didn’t lose much.

Good luck.
