Just checked my chain and bit annoyed to see its already worn to the .75 marker on my checker (probably only done about 500 miles if that) and it's probably not far from fitting the 1mm one. So time for a new chain so I don't nacker the cassette etc.. What's good for road bikes? It's a 2x9. I always use KMC x9s for mtb so was wondering if I could just get away with that or is there something better/lighter for road, or something that won't stretch as quickly? Not really looking to spend more than £20 if I can help it, unless a more expensive one will actually be worth it.

Check your chainrings, wear may cause chain wear.

Brand new bike in January, surely the chainrings won't be ****ed yet?

Yeah, what should I look for on the chainrings then? Its probably actually done more than 500 miles. I only do about 120ish a month though if this months computer usage/mileage is anything to go by.

I usually get about 10 - 12,000 miles out of a chain on my road bikes - 10 spd Campagnolo. Then I just buy new chainrings, jockey wheels, chain and cassette. It's a lot cheaper than changing a chain every 500 miles... :rolls:
