I just started an upgrade cycle with a set aim in mind that will make sense when I get there.
1985 Raleigh Flyer
Race Face risers.
SLX shifter and rear mech, the thumbie has been left on for the front.
Saddle pack.
Non matching stem and post.
Horrible knackered saddle.
DMR lock on grips with no end caps.
Flat pedals.

THE Rules are usually quoted by sad, pathetic sheeple who know how stupid they are, but are so scared by the possibility of independant thought that they follow them anyway.

Whereas that bike has teh potential for much awsumness.

Carry on!

None.
Riding a hybrid means you don't have to worry about the rules.

This.

It's like worrying about pet insurance for your lawnmower.

I suppose it is a hybrid now isn't it. Although it did start off life as a proper road bike.

I wasn't worried about the rules I just thought this might get a few knickers in a twist.

I wouldn't be worried about the rules, I'd worry about being burned as a loony for riding a BSO like that...

It is a bit of a bso isn't it.

Drops aren't going on it, ultimately I will have flat bars and a different frame.

Exactly. A complete nutbag might consider getting pet insurance for their lawnmower.....

...but a non-existant lawnmower?

The underwriters would laugh you out the door.

What if he keeps sheep to mow his lawn? Obviously they're not very good but maybe they're sick at the moment and the insurance won't pay out...

I've been on holiday the past week, it was fine when I left. Bike building took precedence over mowing today, I might now the garden tomorrow if I find the time.

Quite a few fields near me use goats to keep the grass/undergrowth in check. So I guess the question is can a working animal be claimed as a pet? Or would that lose your tax breaks?

Sorry, what were we doing here again?

Wookster, if The Rules are so tongue in cheek, why do all the po faced arch-miserabilists who say that OBEY EVERY SINGLE ONE!?!

Seriously, when I'm elevated to my rightful position as Leader, there will be some serious compulsory re-education going down.

No shaved legs for blokes.
Compulsory picnics on any ride over 30 miles.
All road bikes to be fitted with a triple, guards and a saddlebag.
