Right I'm 6 feet tall

Road bike I want comes in 56 or 58cm top tube

Which one should I go for?

This is good but you will need to spend a bit of time getting the measurements.

Alternatively, at 6 ft, I would go 56cm.

At 6ft dead, 57cm is probably ideal, so you could fit either.
Personally I would go for the smaller frame as the headtube will be a bit shorter.
Not much help, sorry.

Headtube shorter gets me lower bars and more aero position right?

It's not really about height - is that height made of short legs and long body or vice versa?

When you are sitting on bike look through bit where stem joins bars - does it cover front hub?

Adjust frame and stem combination till it does.

But keep it sensible - don't have a 54cm top tube and 15cm stem

But... My guess is 56 is more your size - 58 is XL

I'm the same height as you - legs and body in normal proportions. I tried lots of different brands - most shops suggested 58cm which always felt a bit of a stretch for me. 56cm always felt slighly small. By chance a friend spotted a Bianchi in a sale with a significant discount so went along to the LBS to have a look - found out they did odd number sizes, sat on a 57cm which was perfect.

So might be worth looking a some different brands - also not all 58cm are the same size.
