My LX hollow tech 2 non driveside crank arm keeps loosening during each ride? i have used loctite on the crank bolts , tightened them to the right torque setting but by the end of the ride its wobbling again.

Is it possible for the splines to become worn and cause this problem.
The cranks are 3 or so years old.

Yes, probably worn splines, will happen quicker if ridden loose.

sounds like it, I had the same issue, bolts were lose or worked lose and one day the crank arm just came off on a climb. Put it all back together, but the crank arm kept coming off, no matter how tight I did the bolts. You've probably stripped the crank arm spline, like I did. I bought a new crank arm @ £60 (old XT), but in hinesight probably would have been better buying all new SLX cranks at not much more than that price.

Just had to buy some new slx cranks after I was left riding one legged twice! That hurts.... 😯
Wear and tear me thinks...

Same thing has just happened to me. I could make it last for a short ride before it started to wobble so I've just bought a new chainset.

I thought HT2 cranks had the pinch bolt to try to stop this kinda thing happening?

I did it repeatedly on square-taper and HT1 cranks, mind. Apparently it's because I'm goofy-footed. Frankly I think the crank/ BB interfaces were goofy-made...

Actually, I have no idea how my XT cranks suddenly failed (the non driveside arm coming off), I assumed at the time the bolts worked/were loose, but it could have just as easily been the fact they were 6 years old and well used/worn like cinderinsport says. Seems ok again now tho, with a new non driveside crank arm.

It's always the non drive side cranks that come loose, they are the only ones transmitting all your power to the crank. Drive side transmits power to the chain rings so less stress on crank mounting.
