Cyclescheme choices are -

Planet X SL Carbon Ultegra (8 weeks delivery time)
Willier La Triestina Mirage

Anybody own one these and can offer reccomendation etc?

My only comment here is that any delivery time Ribble quote is just p!ssing in the wind - it'll (almost) certainly turn up at some point, but that will bare no relation to any delivery date that you were quoted at the start or during the numerous phone calls that you will make along the way to find out where your bike actually is.

If it's cyclescheme you can go to pretty much any independent surely?

If that's the case, and assuming the £1k budget, the only one on my list would be a Cannondale CAAD 9, as the frame is by far the nicest riding frame in that price range.

If you want carbon, fine, but budget carbon is budget carbon - ride quality is what matters to me. Oh, and I owned a PX-SLC. Good groupset value, but dull feeling ride.

My Gran Fondo arrived yesterday.

Was unsure to go with Ribble or not given some of the reports. IMHO it was best value and better looking than Planet-X.

It was delivered in 4 weeks (website says to leave up to 5 during June-August).

In terms of service i tried phoning once and got no answer but dropped them an e-mail twice and both were replied to within 24 hours.

Bike looks nice i got it with Ultegra group unridden yet so no ride reports but build looks well done cables neatly routed etc.

And how would you know. You have about as much technical experience building bikes as me, and i have none. Anyway, pics look good. Out this weekend on it?. I'm giving MTB a miss for at least a week after the crash. Neck is in agony

I know I can purchase from any cyclescheme shop but have looked through the bikes/specs etc and shortlisted these as being the better buys.
I few mates of mine have 'dales and to be honest not that taken by them.
