Death I imminent?
It seems to go in fine without appearing to stress the frame - any reason not to do this?

you're relying on the QR shaft to keep the back end of the bike pinched together so I'd avoid anything lightweight or it might go 'spoing' at an inopportune moment and eject your wheel.
if it's permanent you can get the frame cold worked so it's set for 130mm spacing, not 135.
