I got my ass handed to me by a commuter today. I was in full lycra (20mile commute) on my 29er, he was in suit trousers and shoes with an anorak and hybrid.
I somewhat arrogantly pulled out to pass him when setting off from the lights. It took a surprising amount of effort. I stayed in the road he went on the cycle path, he passed me seated and with ease. I'd like to say I wasn't trying - it would be a lie. It's been a hard 3 week training block blah blah.
Mega embarrassing!
