Looking to replace and ageing and out of true wtb 23mm internal rim. For a 27.5 bike using a max of about 2.5 inch tires. Currently using maxxis minnion dhr as they are the only tires I have! Mostly trail riding, bike gets dragged on a few Alps trips etc. So any recommendations of rims? Don't want to spend much more than 60 quid if possible. Cheers

Shop around on the European sites.... Theres always some bargain DT Swiss rims to be had, how hard are you on your wheels?. If your hard I would look at EX 471s or for the more gentler rider the XM range.... They do the E range which are cheaper but I can't comment on their strengths as I've never used them.

Do you want a similar width internal rim or wider? DT Swiss XM481 (30mm internal) have been good for me for a few years now. Just bought some XM421 (25mm internal) for a new hardtail build as they were lighter - but then decided I want to run 2.5/2.6” tyres so perhaps I shouldn’t have gone narrower just to save some weight! Will see how they go.

ive just switched to stans arch mk3, dt swiss hubs, maxxis forekaster/ardent race 2.35"
really enjoying the combo, quite light weight

My experience with Stan's is that they are nice and light, but seem to dent quite easily.

I bought XM481 and I really like them. I know the EX471 is legendarily strong but I wanted the extra width (30 vs 25) with no weight penalty.

I was willing to switch to 471's if I killed them but they held up to a long Alps trip and a few uplift days no problem. They still look brand new actually.

Nice tyre profile as well on a sensible 2.4 tyre.

I think a bit wider as that is what is reported as being better! Will check out the xm range. Cheers
