Any old excuse to post yet another pic of my rigid commuter. Brand X HT01. Now has a 180 rotor front, and 32t ring (was 34t).
If a 24" street/trials bike counts:

Had it seven months, still bad at it, but enjoy it, making slow progress, but am 40something.

How many folks here are also running a gravel bike as well as their rigid MTB?

If it's really itchy, Sam's taking orders for semi-custom Ti at the moment.

Yes!

And you got some Junker bars, how did you manage that?

Andy had a handful back in April, he posted on FB that there were a couple of spare 70's up for sale so I grabbed them.

It has a 75.5 ST angle, and 450 reach, so is an ace climber.
Sit and spin, and the front wheel stays planted without having to hover over the nose of the saddle.

That looks like three different bikes stuck together 😂

How's it ride?

survivor - it rides great!

Although it looks a bit mad, it's mostly quite 'normal' by todays standards.
Obviously, the front end is a bit out there...
It was built primarily as a hardcore hardtail, which I wanted to run 150 forks at 63 degrees with a B+ tyre.
I also wanted the option of rigid, but rigid forks for 63 HA don't exist, so I had these built.
I paid close attention to the mechanical trail and wheel flop numbers, to get the correct offset for the head angle. I went with what I knew worked well on production bikes.
Check out the new Stooge MK4, it's getting slacker and big offset.
It feels really balanced, but more confident downhill than a rigid bike has any right to be, with the big tyre way out front like a DH bike.

I've had it a couple of years now. I'm considering selling it to get another one made, full 29+ this time with some changes to make it more bikepacking specific.
I love the new Stooge MK4, but the 72 SA rules it out for me. It was tempting me greatly otherwise.

A bit more on mechanical trail for the geo geeks HERE

And a handy calculator HERE

Hi guys, as a long time reader I would like to add my little contribution to this nice thread, a Kona Unit from 2015. I've got it for two years now, found it in NOS condition, very happy with it since then.

Sold this and bought a drop bar gravel bike instead. Not convinced I didn't prefer the Genesis 🙁

Like rocking horse shit now too. What an idiot. Some stunning potential alternates in here though!

Here is my (now sold, sadly... and I miss it) Niner One9 Scandium. I spend a lot of great times on this, did Charlies SS events down in Swanage and loved riding it. I spent a lot of money on upgrading the spec, full Niner RDO and some s****y SRAM carbon cranks et-all... Then I bought the CX'er and it sat in the shed not getting used... and I decided to sell it. It went to a good home, but I still miss it...

Speedball

My sweet Stooge Speedball courtesy of Clink. Added a Thomson 6 bolt BMX stem and some Junker bars. Currently my only bike and makes me grin whenever I ride it. Just saving up for some more all rounder tyres as most of my riding is now on bridleways, towpaths and boring roads to link them up.

I’m a bit of a serial bike swapper normally, but the only thing that could tempt me to move this on is a Stooge Mk4. It really is a fun machine

Can’t do anything about the privacy warnings. St least I can’t figure out how to host images easily without them.

Rigid might not want to die but I thought I was going to earlier! Nearly two years since I last rode. Destroyed me.

Surly karate monkey.
Great bike, rides well, I’ve ran it with schwalbe big apples, nobby nic/rock razor, and surly knards.
Works well with all of those. At its best with knard front and rock razor rear ime.
Bought as a frameset, I built it with 2x10 slx/xt.
Slx brakes, dura ace barend shifters adapted to work like thumbies.
Would buy the same thing again.
