Posting fail. Insta private can’t be bothered to change it for a picture.

Anyway. I agree. Rigid is fun!

I also have a spare set of wheels with 28mm continental gatorskin tyres fitted, it's a real tarmac weapon in that guise.

Since raised the bars and chubbied the front. Got my eye on the Stooge Junker bars when they come so I can ditch the gopping stem.

Disappointed but not surprised it's not available to buy!

UGgerly forked IO. It used to be used daily for dog walks, me and dog have separated 😉 , but it has an extremely useful utility function for shopping and taking garden waste to dump, so it will never die.

I wanted to add this one, but didn't have any suitable pics, until this morning on a long way in to work.
1996 Trek 850, that because of it being my commuter/everything else bike, ends up being what I probably ride more than anything.

Lots of personal project parts- Brake boosters, bar-ends, chain tensioner, bash ring, 26.8 dropper, ghetto tubeless.

Not sure if either of these count as 'mountain' bikes, but I've ridden them both on red (and a bit of black) trails at trail centres, and beyond:

If I knew how I’d post a pic of my rigid Puffin below.
And my rigid SIR.9.
Both equally ace.

Some genuinely lovely looking bikes in this thread.

Got me thinking of the rigids I rode back in the early 90's. Not ridden a rigid since and can't but help feel I'm missing out on the simplicity I remember from that era.

Does anyone still sell a good, rigid MTB off the peg? Deore or above, good frame, MTB not touring geometry? If so, I could ne tempted to get my credit card out...

Oh this thread. This b*stard of a thread. I read it, then re-read it and then went on to another tab and purchased a Bombtrack Beyond + ADV frameset. It just seemed the right thing to do. It was wasn't it?

@Lunge, would perhaps a Genesis Longitude or a Shand Bahookie be your bag?

have a look at brother cycles, they have some lovely rigid mountain bikes, or have a chat to andy at stooge who will build you whatever spec you want onto one of his frames to suit your budget

MTB not touring geometry?

Wassat mean?

Normal MTB geometry is designed to integrate the suspension into the handling - I'd argue that rigid MTBs need to be different.

@lunge There are a few completes still about, as mentioned before Brother do a nice one, as do Ribble. Wonder and Marin have good ones under a grand, but I've been perving over the 2020 Kona Unit-X that's just been released. Still cant afford it, though.

Thanks, it's definitely an one-off. I need to build myself a frame, might make a start at some point one day!

Custom Ramin, frame and fork* to be swapped for a Stooge mk4 in about a week 🙂

(stealth ad: so the frame and fork pictured above will shortly be for sale [very cheaply] if this thread has anyone curious to try rigid)

I really must pull my finger out and sort out posting a photo of my Ti Singular Hummingbird singlespeed. Almost certainly my favourite bike of any I’ve owned, although the steel Hummingbirds are ace too.

How many folks here are also running a gravel bike as well as their rigid MTB?

My gravel bike is my commuter so I have a second set of wheels for my rigid bike to run some faster tyres
