Anyone tried this? Am looking for something that'll give me quick access to camera on big rides. Peak Design Capture Clip looks like the kind of thing.

EDIT: Just found a couple of previous STW threads on this, so will dig around in there. Unless anyone has experience of the 2020 Capture Clip (v3) ?

I've often done it but with a bridge or compact, not an slr. Just got a fairly standard camera pouch with a sewn-in belt hoop and hung it on a strap where it couldn't slip off. It always seems to find a nice spot to sit. Doubt it'd work for a larger camera though.

I do this running/hiking/riding either with a kreiger front pocket on backpacks without front pockets, or in the built in front pocket e.g. montane via backpack. As with Northwind this is with compacts though. Get a lot more shots than I'd ever do if the camera was buried away and had to faff about getting it out; can grab it, take a shot and be back on the move in seconds.

I've done it with compacts. Smashed both of them in crashes, so I don't do it any more.
