Posted this exact same thing a couple of weeks ago.
Had the idea of getting up early and going to Staveley tomoz for a short ride. But once again, the East is causing trouble!!
Is it likely to be awful!? Mountain forecast suggests windchill of -26!!
Can't catch a break when it comes to getting free time to ride!
Kentmere stuff is very exposed. Go low level - Grizedale BWs maybe. Staying in the trees will offer a fair degree of shelter if you choose your route carefully.

I think you've maybe answered your own question there.
Wheelbase demo weekend, will be rammed in Staveley.
Ride somewhere you know you'll be within your limits.
I booked the Demo Weekend ages ago because I want to ride some E Bikes and get a taste of the Future of Mountain Biking.
However, I didn't know back then that the weather would end up this bad.
It's all Kentmere stuff and it's forecasted minus 2 with snow. It's going to be the usual Kentmere Valley stuff e.g. Sadgill, 3 Rivers, Garburn Pass.
It's going to be all slippy and shit. Snow and Ice = Shit and Slow. I like to go fast.
I've paid my £15 so I have to go now or I'll just feel like I've just thrown money away FFS.
Regrettable, but I have to go
I think the Bike I booked has Plus size tyres so at least that should help take the edge off things in this horrendous weather.
But it's still going to be slow and shit, either that or ride fast and risk slipping and injury, in the worst time of the year to get injured ( with all of Spring and Summer ahead).
That demo loop could well be riding much better than it was in the slop last year, if the ground is all frozen.
Well it turns out it was cancelled.
Really boring Sunday stuck at home with nothing to do in this shit weather. I'm sure in 3 months time I'll be moaning about being stuck at work on a day when its 20C Sunny Dry and Dusty. It sucks
I can understand that. The logistics of being responsible for a group of randomly (and potentially poorly) equipped bikers and trying to stick to a timetable would be a bit trying, to say the least. Also a bit pointless as you can't really get a feel for what the bike will be like when you're on snow/ice.
Yeah I don't feel so bad about deciding not to head out. Just each time I organise my time to go recently, the weather spanners it!! It's already the middle of march and I think I've had the MTB out three times this year, maybe half a dozen since November.

From November to March it is always hard to get much biking done. I'm just glad we're near the end of it now and before I know it I'll be biking nearly every day again
It was grim!

Bloody hell that one of the gate looks bad. That must have been a real pain in the arse to get through.
