This spring's plan is to do the Ridgeway over two days, Avebury to Ivinghoe, maybe in late April. Any recommendations on kit, exciting detours, accommodation, etc.? One question is whether it's worth going down to Avebury, or is joining the track at Barbury Hill fine (I'll be coming from Swindon station)? And I am familiar with the joys of Chiltern mud, so I'll pack a spade if it's been raining at all... ๐Ÿ˜•

dont do it in the wet - seriously just dont do it, its all pretty open so dries up fairly quickly but wet weather in the two weeks preceding your ride, would have me bailling out.

did it once, never again.

if the weather is dry its a nice ride - bit dull IMO, but worth doing once.

overnight either at the YHA in wantage, or BB round wallingford.

+1 for dryness

Defo worth going to Avebury and Kennet Long Barrow and Silbury Hill.

The Polisher is also near by but I'm sworn to secrecy on its location.
