At Knockhill for the weekend & have a free day today, looking for a good technical 2 - 3hr loop. looking at Strava heatmaps there looks like a loop near Alava/Tillicoultry taking in Ben Cleuch, any route recommendations or other suggestions?

Up and back down Dumyat?

For Ben Cleuch I'd suggest up the steep track from the back of Alva, over Ben Ever, then cleuch, Andrew Gannel, Kings seat and down to dollar. Back to start along old back road past harvieston castle site and then cycle path. Good if dryish. Maybe a bit more than 2-3 h though.

There's some decent riding on hillfoots hill and through glen to glendevon village too. One option is to go up hillfoots hill (known to many as tillhill) then over onto commonedge hill and seamab, then ride over to the dam in glen quay (spelling?) then back to castle Campbell.

It's been raining all week, so it'll be boggy up there!
Actually, its always boggy.

Have a look at Blairadam, Blairadam

or Uni Woods Uni

or Dollar Downhills dollar You can go up Glen Quey and over Auchlinsky Hill if you want a warm up first.

True enough. I've ridden in the snow before and was fun, but not so good for erosion etc, and a bit like hard work too.

There are a few boggy bits on the plateaus, but the tops seem to drain pretty well and most of the track isn't too bad at all. Kings seat doesn't really get boggy, and the descent to dollar hill (Bank hill) is a good old fashioned teeth rattling straight down the hilllside job. Remember doing it on a rigid bike with cantis in the olden days!

paging StirlingCrispin

Dumyat is ace - up and down, lots in Witches crag, Uni Woods and Mine woods. Wave from the top - if I look right now I can see the summit from office window 🙂

Cleuch and Andrew Gannell - a few ways up, great fund descent back again..

I reckon he has wandered into one of the old silver mines in Alva never to be seen again.
