Was listening to the nutrition Zwift insider podcast today and the nutrition expert said you needed about 7g/kg of carbs the day before a big ride. That seems like an awful lot as there are only 23g of carb in 100g of pasta. Even at a light weight you would have to eat loads to achieve that. He then said 200g on the morning of the race/event. 60g per hour seems achievable to me during the event but the other values seemed very high rating normal food.

Some good ideas for during race/event snacks though with whole meal wraps with peanut butter and honey on them.

If by big ride you mean emptying the tank then it's what you want if your not going to start burning bits you don't want to burn.
If the ride is not massive then fuel for what you might need.

Yeh but how would you even achieve that level of carb loading for say someone who is 100kg. You would need 700g of carbs which would be 2800g of pasta or equivalent.

For a quick way to top up your carb count, try one of these quick-and-easy snacks. Each is crammed with 75g (300kcal) of carbohydrate:

1 large handful of raisins, dried apricots or other dried fruit
2 energy bars
3 slices of bread thinly spread with honey
4 thick slices of bread or toast
5 rice cakes spread with jam
Of course, if you’re still finding it hard to cram enough carbs in, sports drinks are another alternative.

Bit of thinking out of the box and try some other stuff rather than just pasta. Again this would be for a big long day burning through stuff hard. If your not at the race weight stage you could also have a chunk of fat to burn through too 🙂

I eat rice not pasta, in large amounts. Then something every 30-45 minutes usually alternating between a SIS gel and an easily digestible bar (peanut butter are a favourite). I also eat sticky rice when racing. Just not pasta.
