Below is a project im working on over lockdown. I am very much a noob when it comes to making or putting together bikes and recently went on a 500 mile cycle camping trip which really got me into cycling. I love retro bikes and wanted to mod one and upgrade it. I have been faced with allot of issues and wanted to document it in the hopes I can help others. More than happy to accept any feedback and help and appreciate you looking!

Is that brake brace home made? Looks nice but is it tough enough?

The frame has been treated with a bluing agent to darken the steel and then rebranded keeping an homage to it in the decals, the rear end has had two posts welded into the frame to dampen rotational force from braking and the brake mounting post is elongated to spread the energy down the lenght of the stay to absorb it.

I wont know until I use it if it will be enough but considering this bike is designed for general use on simple trails im quite confident it will be enough.

Thanks for the comments

Love it, I used to have an Ascent in the early 90s and I likes nice bit of welding (added a disc mount to an old Kona)...

Good work OP.
