I have an old butcher's bike and recently saw a wanted ad for one. It's complete and just needs new tubes to get it rolling. Any ideas how rare they are and what they are worth?

put it on ebay. i was looking the other day as i have a couple of trade bikes and was surprised that even a rough one will get 100quid. prob even more if you wait til spring and make it rideable,

As Gav says: Spruce it up a bit and bung it on eBay, see what happens...

Given the recent goings on in the classified section I think you would get away with saying "it's in mint condition"

Rigid singlespeed with stupid handlebars and rusty forks, is it the new On One prototype?

How heavy is it?

If it's an old gentleman bike I might be interested but this one errrmm ... yes, I might look like a 2n8.

😀

probably not worth a lot unless you give it a bit / a lot of a tickle.

quite a few knocling about - got a later (non rod brake) Pashley postie bikes in the shed awaiting work.

I paid 250 for an older one in better condition (new rims) with a brand new wicker basket on the front. I think if you spend a bit of time on it, you could see 200. I'd just give it a new chain, tyres, a bit of service and ride it personally! Good fun in the summer for picnics and bimbling etc.

It might cost £100 to have it blasted and painted. I had a look on ebay and retro rims are still around, grips, pedals and cottered chainset shouldn't cost much.

What tyres for bimbling?

I got £120 or so on ebay for a virtually identical bike in reasonable working order (rode it 10 miles to work to pass it on to the buyer).

DON'T have it blasted and repainted. That would be silly and would wreck the patina.
Do make servicable, tubes, tyres lube, wash etc.
As a working bike that some one could use and has a sign board on advertising there business its got to be worth £150 +
