how many, how often ?
usually swim, gym and mtb, now commuting too........
always tired, take 1 day off every 7 days or so.
pretty high intensity, realising i need days off for recovery.....or do i ?
i'm 40 this december.....
Well I'm 50 & usually take at least 1 day a week off but TBH - I don't find it helps much unless I have a week off ๐
mmmm...
i get 8 hours of sleep every night too...
I've really slacked off in the last 6 weeks (to the extent I'm rather ashamed with myself), but before that was trying to avoid more than about 4 hard rides a week as well as commuting and other genweral stuff.
I agree, that's not much intensity, but it seemed to work for me. I certainly had more energy then than I do now I've not been doing anything....
Try monitoring your resting HR first thing in the morning, before you get out of bed, if it's significantly elevated, you need to back off either by reducing intensity or having a complete rest day. And try listening to your body. If you feel trashed, you probably are and training through it will make you weaker not stronger. There's no hard rule, depends on you and how fast you recover and how intensely you're training. I hate rest days - I get frantic pretty quickly - but it's the rest and recovery that makes you stronger.
bwd - cheers - i hate days off to but need to recover. i like this :
but it's the rest and recovery that makes you stronger.
just gotta keep reminding myself of it !
Ride three times a week and do weights twice a week if i can be arsed. Im 34 and thats enough for me. Rest at the weekend if not going pedaling some where nice. If i do that for more that 3 weeks on the trot i find i get far too fit ๐
personally - 2 rest days per week - one total rest, one 'active recovery' ie riding/rollers/turbo in HR zone 1
but it's the rest and recovery that makes you stronger.
never a truer word spoken on this forum.
i only usually take a day off if it rains !!our local outdoor pool shuts on the 13th so thats one less activity.
