Just reporting back after having such useful input on my first post relating to new bike purchase..

http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/newbie-with-the-usual-which-bike-question

Well, I ordered the Cube and collected about ten days ago.
Here she is, on the day after collecting, we stopped on the Chase and had a quick blast round to check it out.

Seat moved (hence pointing to the sky!) gears clunked and I wasn’t sure about the choice, but…..

Today, had my third good run out.
Leaving my house it takes 30 mins to get to Tackeroo via Severn Springs.
Now, wheel stickers gone (red & white WTF!), bottle cage (and bottle ? ) fitted, gears indexed (again!), seat fixed…

Did FTD and back home (via a ‘cheeky’ ? ).

Dirty…

Verdict.

White is going to be hard to keep clean..
It’s a million times better than my old bike (quelle surprise)…
Brakes that work for more than 10 minutes, forks that actually work at all!!
It’s lively, inasmuch as it turns fast (and to me) accelerates fast too.
Climbing, hmmm, need to change my technique.
As mentioned in one of the responses to my original post, well, steep climbing bum down for traction = front lifting, shift weight forward = loss of traction, however, this time, I’m managing it better. It’s a learning curve.
Bars seem wide, mucked up the Werewolf drop as I was worried about fitting through the gap.
Oh well I am an old fart after all….

Thanks again for a great forum and apologies if I hold any of you up out there.. ?

I know what you mean about finding the sweet spot when climbing. I have a Cube Reaction - appropriately named. Finding that sweet spot takes a bit of learning. Its also quite lively on the rough stuff, so means you have to hone your skills. But it has its advantages, as its a really fast xc bike.
In comparison I have a Dialledbikes Prince Albert that has a huge climbing sweet zone.
