[Closed] Replacing rear mech jockey wheels

I've got SRAM (X9) and Shimano (SLX) rear mechs that need the jockey wheels replacing.

Is it as straight forward as whipping the old one out, give the mech a clean and put the new ones in?

Are they directional or different sizes for top/bottom wheels?

I've genuine Shimamo and SRAM replacements to put in so hoping it's less faff than after market ones.

Thanks

Shimano use a guide pulley which goes in the top and a tension pulley which goes in the bottom. Undo bolts, remove old jockey wheels, clean up mech, fit new ones.

No idea with Sram, don't use it.

the Shimano I have (Deore and Deore XT):

yes - top and bottom is different. No "rotational direction" so.

Shimano ships the wheels with a small "wire" around them. Be carefull when you take the wire off that all the parts don't drop onto the floor. There are "loose" dust caps and similar.

To secure the mounting bolts I always put a drop of Loctite medium on tho the threads.
