I did this to my tyre last night? Repairable or bin it?

It's only done 200 miles... I'm definitely blaming my new Cotic for making me ride like a hooligan...

That's reasonably substantial and in the sidewall. I would bin it.

I've used tiptop patches before on something similar and in fairness, they did hold it....but it terrified me every ride, so bought a new tyre.

If you are being frugal - run it on the rear rather than the front!

Both the type of damage (tear) and the location (sidewall) would be reasons for me to bin it even in isolation, but both combined are definitely scrap criteria.

I'd never be able to trust a tyre with damage like that.

I have patched similar and it was fine. Bulged a bit though. I didn't trust it enough as a front tyre so was consigned to rear use only.

Bin it, it'll never hold even if stitched and patched.

I'm a right tight fisted type and take great pride in keeping stuff running..... but even I'd bin that.

As per yak. The bulge was greatly reduced by over patching with a much larger patch with plenty of overlap.

I repaired one as big as that in a similar place on a brand new tyres first ride, its still fine 6 months on.

I used one of these

Its got to be worth a try for less than the price of a beer ๐Ÿ˜‰
