Anyone ever successfully repaired lycra? I recently holed one of the knees in my Endura 3/4 bibs on what was probably their 3rd ever outing and am kinda loathe to part with another £50 right now.

I now have an inkling as to how my mother must have felt when I used to come home with yet another hole in the knees of my school trousers! 🙂

Yeah, loads. Just needle and thread - make sure you pinch plenty of material together and it's fine.

If you get a >small< hole in lycra my wife recommends a bit of nail varnish, stops it fraying further 💡 - seems to have worked so far!

Easy enough to repair, but how you do it depends on the type of damage. If it's a straight tear, then just stitch across it, but don't pull too tight or you end up with a ridge which can chafe. If it's a hole, darning may be a better option - it probably won't look as good, but puts less strain on the remaining material.

I don't think there are more than 3 bits of lycra kit in our house that haven't been repaired at some point...
