I'm just getting into MTB and I've built up a bike from various secondhand bits and loving riding it.
But my rear wheel is giving me some grief. It's a fairly battered Mavic Crossone which was a hand-me-down from my brother in law. Since building my bike midway through last year it has needed truing, some replacement springs in the hub, and now is out of true again with four or so very loose spokes whose nipples seem seized.
I could probably replace the spokes and nipples but I wonder whether I'm wasting my time. Would I be better off looking to replace it with e.g. a used Hope/Stans wheel from eBay or similar, or should I just keep the Crossone going and worry about upgrading when I've got some more cash?
Thoughts, opinions, and advice welcomed 🙂
YOu can probably get a basic rear wheel secondhand for not a lot if its 26"
What tj said.
I don't think the cross one is a particularly expensive wheel to start with. I bought a front one a year or two back and it was well under £100 might have been as low as £70 iirc.
Thanks folks. It is 26" yes, so some good deals to be had.
