Hi all,
I am taking the family to Eurocamp in the Balck Forest on Weds for a week and was hoping to sneak out for a morning of MTB'ing. We are staying 2km from Herbolzheim. I will need to rent a bike and helmet. More than happy with XC / Enduro style riding and usually get a 2-3 hr morning pass out if I have been good ๐Ÿ™‚

Any tips or recommendations would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Geordynige

I've been to Titisee a few times. It's really lovely there but you'll probably find more XC style riding than anything else. Still great fun though.

Best tip for you is to get yourself to the local tourist office when you arrive. They normally have a bike map with waymarked xc routes which are really easy to follow and tell distance, ave time, elevation etc.

Pop this

herbolzheim fahrradverleih

into google and you will see a lot of bike shops round Herbolzheim from e-bike rental and the like... I didn't chase any links but this is a start.

FWIW, a cycle on the Rhine and the villages close to where you will be is nice. You can pop across to France, cycle on the island between the Rhine canal and the river... Could be a nice circuit with riverside bars....

@geordynige

Just head to the local bike shop or the tourist centre will be able to tell you once you arrive. The area is really well geared up for tourism.

You'll probably be paying a few euros a day for tourist tax. The places i've been to give a tourist card which entitles free use of public transport, free mini golf, discounts etc. Eurocamp will probably have a ton of brochures advertising all the local stuff you can try and where you can get discounts. Grab a handful of leaflets and have a read.

Also, take a look on the Scharzwald sites. Think there's a Schwarzwald app too.

The Kaiserstuhlweg is a nice 60km easy ride - more hybrid than MTB. You can join it at Riegel

I'm sure there were some MTB rental places in Waldkirch. Kandel is a nice mountain and lots of tracks up and around it.
