After a recent thread on here and some further reading on another website I decided to try some Renthal push on grips. I bought the soft compound grips and while they are ok they've not quite lived up to what I was expecting. They also feel a bit odd due to how thin they are too. Do you get used to them over time, do they get better as they wear? Cheers

I've not tried the renthal grips. But I am curious about them.

What were you expecting?
What did you get?

Think I expected something slightly softer/comfier than what I got. Only had a few rides on them so maybe I'll get used to them and they'll feel good once worn in a bit. I'm comparing them to a set of slightly worn ODI elite lock-ons.

I've got the ultra tacky push ons and I really like them for grip but overall they're a little thin.

I've already got some Longnecks to put on when they're worn out. I always end up back on them. I've got big mitts and prefer the extra girth.

They're not the most comfy grips available but they're as much comfort as you can get for such a thin grip

You can put tape on the bars and slide the grips over to build up a bigger diameter.

I have some but prefer my RF Good n Evil.

Softs are a little firmer than Kevlar or Ultra tackies

Oury grips are fat and very soft/comfey as an alternative. I was less keen on the slim renthals.

I used to use the ultra tacky version and really liked them for grip and comfort.

As a comparision I recently tried a set of ODI vapours Still on the first set but would say they are a good comparison for size and feel although don't have the same stickyness to your hand (maybe a good thing - the reason for changing was got fed up of the renthals wearing out fast and leaving little black bits on my hands)

I used Oury grips years ago and thought they were good although in hindsight I hadn't tried much to compare to at the time. They are definitely chunkier under your hands than the renthals but I would say that although the ourys are soft they are smoother than the others so slippier in rain and with muddy hands.

I can't comment on the Renthals but I've read how popular they are so was considering them at some point. Right now I'm using ESI Chunky for the first time, They are proving to be really comfy, they feel thicker than your average lock on.

But they are very delicate and I have already damaged both grips around the ends falling off. I like them enough to try some kind of alloy bar end cap to see if that protects them.

I think they're around 28mm, I'm basing a lot of my info from this article: https://nsmb.com/articles/my-favourite-push-grips/

I might try them for a little longer then try something else like the ODI Longnecks and compare.
