Yo,

STW massive, I know you're meant to remove and fit the bolts in a certain order, but I can't remember which!

Can anyone help?

Cheers

Would it be like most stems where you turn each screw a turn then the opposite and so forth.

It's a bit different as the stem is split in two.

From memory either the top or bottom bolts are tightened, then the other, I just can't remember which way!! But there is a specific order in which to do it.

I did have the instructions but can't seem to find them.

Here's an actual guide instead of some snark.

Basically, bottom ones first, then top ones, all to 5nm.

Bottom loosely, put stem on steerer, torque bottom screws, preload headset, torque steerer screws then torque top screws.

All 5n/m.

@Goldigger.

My forks are in for service and I've not cleaned/greased the bolts in nearly 18 months!

There is a creak, but only a small one under heavy loads so it's not really bothered me, but whilst the bike is in bits it makes sense to give it a once over.

Having been going insane with a clicking/creaking front end on my bike everytime I put power down to pedal I am convinced it is from this stem. There seems to be no other explanation. Glad I'm not the only one.
