Complete newbie to bike maintenance. I'm using the Zinn book, but I'm stumped. I'm changing the 48 ring for a 50 so need it out.

Does anyone have a step by step guide on how to do this?

I've removed the cap, a hex key bolt, a washer from the non-drive side crank arm, but what now? ๐Ÿ™

Can't you remove the ring with the cranks still on the bike?

As Coatsey says?

But if you want to remove the cranks you need to undo the extractor bolt on the non drive side...it's the smaller 8mm hex bolt(anti clockwise)when you undo that the crank arm will start to undo itself...once off knock the axle through and thats attached to the chain rings...
