Best way to remove a squwiffy sfn from an alloy steerer - sense a hammer may need to be involved..

You can`t get it out without mangleing it, Just punch it way down the tube and fit a nice new one. ๐Ÿ˜›

Bash it further down and install a new one - use a SFN-tool this time! ๐Ÿ˜†

Or screw a long bolt into it and use that to straighten it up?

Drill the top of the alloy centre out so the top and bottom halves separate and use a couple of well placed taps with a screwdriver and hammer to further fold the star bits over a bit more. you should then be able to twist the top half sideways and hook it out. Same with the bottom half.
Expander bolts are so much nicer.

Can't you just bash it (gently) all the way out the bottom and start again?

if theres no plug in the bottom of the steerer, bash it out the bottom with an old broom handle, and try again.

if there is a plug, DONT remove it, i believe they are structural.

bash it down to the bottom, and buy another and try again.
