I have just had to disconnect my rear brake caliper as a result of having to strip the frame. As I have always found the bleed kits to be rubbish I was going to try the following.
Would it work if I was to reassemble the caliper / hose and lever on the bike and to fill a syringe full of brake fluid and reverse fill from the bleed nipple end. Once the resevoir is filled to the correct level I can then just tighten the bleed nipple.
Crazy idea or worth a try ?
it would work. in fact a few designs are meant to be set up that way.
Try it. If it doesn't work try something else. You aren't going to damage anything by giving it a go.
What brakes are you using?
Great idea! Well done. ๐
Sadly, not new. Shimano's instruction manual recommends this method if you haven't got a posh pro-bleed fandongle and it's the method I always use.
I tend to fill it to overflowing (I think the manual might have said that too...) to ensure all the air is out and that there's plenty of fluid for when the reservoir cap goes back on.
Give it a go, as has been said. You won't break anything and it'll probably work!
