[#7321432]

I'm off to the Redbull Hardline on Sunday and have just had the parking pass and the rider list.
I'm a bit gutted as I have never heard of any of them apart from Gee.
Last year was a star studded event and I was hoping it would be the similar this year.

Here is this years:

1. Gee Atherton
2. Alex Bond
3. Adam Brayton
4. Craig Evans
5. Kye Forte
6. Ruaridh Cunningham
7. Bernard Kerr
8. Lluis Lacondeguy
9. Martin Maes
10. Joe Smith
11. Taylor Vernon
12. Mark Wallace
13. Reese Wilson

And here is last years

http://www.redbull.com/uk/en/bike/events/1331677188101/red-bull-hardline-dan-atherton/results

Maybe it was too dangerous for the big names.

Dan Atherton not racing it this year then?

Looks like a solid line-up to me though.

Yep some big names there from different backgrounds also. Bernard Kerr had some pretty good finishes in this years WC. Awesome rider.

Taylor Vernon and Martin Maes are on GT team so are expected to be part of it.

I don't know 'owt about enduro or DH (I don't even know which of those cateogories Hardline falls into), but even I've heard of Kye Forte and Lacondeguy.

EDIT: seems like I might have heard of a different Lacondeguy.

(The Lacondeguy brothers always used to do the comps together as far as I recall)

Al Bond, biggest huck-to-flat'er on the UK scene and well known on the circuit for years. Are you new to this!?

Wrong Lacondeguy, you're thinking of Andreu who is Lluis's brother. Lluis is still a fantastic rider though.

I'm still not convinced. I must admit that I don't spend much time watching or keeping up with all the events. I just tend to watch the highlights and read the headlines.

I'm not saying it will be rubbish. I was just hoping to see some top names riding.

So basically Rat-Boy isnt going to be there so your throwing your toys out the pram. I suggest you do some reading and appreciate who is putting their neck on the line (which they are riding the hard-line) for your entertainment.

Why are you going?!

Fun fact, I sold Bernard Kerr his first MTB. He was an utter loon then.

No shame in not having heard of any of them, but you really won't be disappointed.

I agree there's no MTB 'A Listers' on there, but I reckon I could pick out 80% of them from a line-up, a lot of them are in the GT / Atherton DH and Enduro Team.

It's 4 weeks before Rampage, which is a bigger event, more exposure, more money and all that - which probably rules out the big name freeriders and Brandon Fairclough.

Kye Forte is one of the biggest BMX riders in the world, if not the biggest.

Al Bond was second at the national champs.

Adam Brayton has had one of the best Dirt covers of all time.

Lluis Lacondeguy is another big BMX rider and brother of Andreu.

Martin Maes was EWS Junior champion, 2nd Junior at the DH World Champs this year and is racing elite in the EWS this year even though he's only 17.

Ruaridh Cunningham was a junior world champion.

What more do you want?

I'd like to echo everyone above and ask who you thought was going to be there? That looks like a good list to me.

Kye Forte is also the current UK Masters DH champ and came 8th at the masters worlds... Given that he's a redbull sponsored athlete I'm not surprised he's there (in fact I reckon most people riding it will be in a redbull helmet).

Gee - the man is a machine
Al Bond - amazing to watch ride
Adam Brayton - again, amazing, down to earth lad
Kye Forte - floats like a cloud in the air
Bernard Kerr - watch some of his vids from the off season in NZ if you still need convincing
Lluis Lacondeguy - Older brother of Andreu and just as mental on a bike
Martin Maes - one of the best natural bike riders ever- and he's still a junior!

I would be happy with the line up and regardless of who is under the ff lid it will be insane to watch actual humans launch off that stuff that Dan and co have built.

When did Gee stop becoming an "A Lister"?

Kye Forte is one of the biggest BMX riders in the world, if not the biggest.

Now Kye has style for miles but even he would say this is bigging him up a bit much.
Kye Forte is also the current UK Masters DH champ and came 8th at the masters worlds

And I think he only picked up a DH bike a couple of years ago.

I don't follow soccer. Presumably if I went to a premier league game I'd be disappointed.

So no else agrees that the rider list contain less top stars than last year?
That's all I was getting at.

And no troll was intended. I just wondered how many teams after watching last years would want their top stars risking life and limb for relatively no return.

Buying a ticket to a sporting event you clearly know almost nothing about and then complaining to the internet about not knowing who any of the competitors are?

Yeah. that'll be someone else's fault.

Who to blame though? Redbull or Dan Atherton (whoever he is)?
