Hi Newbie here, so please be gentle.
In a few months time, we're cycling from Poole to Paris, via Cherbourg, to raise money for a local Charity (The Sparkle Appeal)
Does anyone have a recommended route from Cherbourg to Paris or can give any advice? None of us have cycled in France before and we appreciate we need to plan the route carefully to avoid autoroutes and plan stopovers.
I noticed '40mpg' posted a similar question a couple of years back, so I'm kind of hoping he might see this and make contact. We're based down in Christchurch which I don't think is to far from him.
Thanks is advance for any help.
Jeremy
It's a much shorter ride via Portsmouth/Caen but I guess that's not the point ?
ViaMichelin has a cycle option, it works well for driving. Lots of interesting seaside towns to consider including WW2 Normandy Beaches as stop overs and the Calvados coast with it's cider production, cool cathedral at Lisieux ..
Thanks, We've been offered discounted travel for our support vehicle between Poole and Cherbourg so we can't really change the route.
Thanks for the link, The sites not working properly at the moment but I'll have a go over the next couple of days.
Has anyone cycled the route? We're doing it as a charity run aiming for 80-100 miles a day. We're not too worried about seeing the sites but will make the most of wherever we stop over.
