My brother and I broke our bikepacking virginity with the Dorset Gravel Dash a month or so ago.

We'll probably be doing a few more overnights in the summer but I need a challenge to motivate me through to the autumn.

I've seen the BB200, that looks "doable" if a little less "fun" than the Gravel Dash.

Any similar (maybe a bit less hardcore) events to recommend?

Have a look at the Capital Trail. Leaves from Edinburgh and heads round the Borders.

Charliethebikemonger is planning a Devon Gravel Dash for later in the year so that would probably be ideal if you enjoyed the Dorset one.

I don't do events but I went to the BB200 last year. Even for a plodder like me there was a nice feeling of being involved. It's very sociable (if you want it to be) and is organised by very friendly folk. There's as much tea and coffee as you could hope for at the start and end and the locals I met en route were all very pleased to see us. If it wasn't so far away from me I'd definitely be back this year.

There's also a later Cairngorm Loop group start this year .....
