Can anyone recommend a decent campsite with in a reasonable distance of Whinlatter? Ideally one with showers and bike friendly.

Any ideas appreciated

Scotgate in Braithwaite is within riding distance and has good pubs in walking distance Might be busy.

Scotgate gets very busy - Braithwaite Bridges campsite is just on the other side of the A66 if you find they're full. The annual Christian Convention is about to hit Keswick and many of the camp sites are packed for the next couple of weeks.

There's also Lanefoot Farm between Braithwaite and Thornthwaite - they offer camping but I don't know what the facilities are like. You can easily jump on the bridleway (marked C2C) up to Whinlatter from there.

Thanks for the pointers, both noted. Going up on Wednesday leading on to Mabie/Ae/etc at the end of the week. Can't wait!
