Its probably been asked a million times before, but i'm looking for some rims for a wheel build on some Pro 2's. I've spent the best part of 5hrs reading forums and manufacturers websites and i've still not come close to a decision. I'm looking for some rims that are light weight, but strong enough to take jumps, drops and a good thrashing. To go with the intended colour scheme of my build, i'd prefer to get some white rims which drastically reduces the number of options so still suggest any black rims that would suit too. thanks

Predictable but for good reason, Flow rims....in white.

Depends on budget, but stans are the the obvious ones to go for as they're brilliant.

i've been suggested stans by a couple others on this forum but unsure of which model to try. The flows are obviously the strongest, but i was hoping to lose some weight as i've got Halo SAS wheels on the bike right now weighing in at over 500g each, like the flows.

Edit. the flows are 100g lighter than halo's infact. think its a contender!

flows are 480. if not the enve or the flows, the crest it is. the sas are well over 500g,

470g for Flow rims. You could consider Arch rims at 420g

If you want to do this....

but strong enough to take jumps, drops and a good thrashing.

...I'd stick with the Flow/Arch over Crest/355

do you think the Arch will be suitable for the big hits? the cross section drawings on the notubes.com website is pretty good, showing the flows at 28mm wide, 4mm wider than the arch. the reason i'm asking is that i'd never heard a good thing about stans until STW

I'd suggest the Stans to start, but also have a look at the Superstar rims. I have one of the xc ones and it's great, well on a par with mavic despite feeling softer to build than them. They do feel stiffer than stans though.

Stans all the way - I currently use Arch rims and previously had Olympic and Flows - superb rims.

I'd go for Arch rims based on what you are looking for.

How wider tyres do want to run on them? (min, max and normally would be helpful)

Something along the lines of:
Mavic XM719Disc, EN521Disc
DT Swiss EX500/530
Stans Crest (not sure on strength for abuse), Arch, Flow

Personally I'd not use pro IIs. A ZTR front is slightly lighter, the same price from JustRidingAlong and the adapters are cheaper. For the rear, I hate the noise, pickup is only 24point/revolution, the bearings are pretty minimal in size, I've seen one too many cracked hub bodies, I don't feel the price is worth it given those issues I have with them. All IMO of course

thanks for all the comments. looks like i'll be going for flows or arch rims, if i can find any in stock anywhere! It might not be worth the risk running the arch for the sake of 50g per wheel.

thats an interesting point about the hubs, i have had hope ones in the past and they have been perfect. I also hear alot of good things about people that have had manufacturing related problems with hope components and had them replaced free of charge, but will look into the ZTR a bit more.
