[#3831784]

Not looking for rigid race shoes, but not wanting five ten style either. Basically looking for something for general trail use, that I can race in once in a blue moon.

Was looking at the Specialized Rime, but perhaps a bit over budget, idealy not wanting to spend more than 100 quid.

And while I'm on the subject, other than weight and bearings is there any difference between the M530 and 785xt pedals. I have the later, and as a newbie to SPDs think they're amazing. My key concern = Will the 530s be as easy to get in/out of when I fall over?!!!!

thanks

On the latter subject, the mechanism in the 530s and 785s are exactly the same, so they're equally as easy to clip in and out of. 530s are just a little heavier, and cheaper obviously.

Gaerne Lapo's here, not everyones cup of tea style wise but the soles are (not too) stiffish Vibram jobs. Very comfy (good for hikey bikey) & even splashproof.

Spesh Tahoes are fairly good for an SPD shoe to walk in. It has actual knobbled tread unlike many BMX/DH/'trail' skate style shoes so walking up a steep/loamy stuff is more pushable
The sole isnt the best to ride in though, while M530s are better than M520s they can still cause some foot pain/ache when descending a load. They may be better with full platform pedals like M424/545/DX, Ive not tried
I think I still prefer 'rigid' type 'race' SPD shoes for actually riding, just not pushing/carrying
