I'm looking for some PC based photo management software for my parents, with the key emphasis on ease of use. It doesn't have to do much editing - just importing, organisation and sharing. I find iPhoto to be quite good on my mac so essentially I'm looking for the closest PC based equivalent.
They already have various pieces of Canon software already from several cameras, so if any of that is good I'll take a look there.
Photoshop has always worked for me. Although my version is quite old it still does fine
The two major players in this field are Aperture (might be Mac only) and Lightroom. But they might be overkill for your folks.
Picasa is pretty good and is free.

Google Picasa works well and is pretty easy to use.
I like Picasa the face recognition part of it is very very clever!
I've been using Picasa recently and it seems to work just fine. The face recognition/person tagging is, indeed, pretty smart.
