I'm off to Edinburgh for my birthday this weekend in fact in 3 hours time i'll be jumping on the train, would like to go and have a look at some stuff with my birthday money to spend so recommendations would be great thanks
Only a matter of time before someone mentions the bike chain, good guys tho'.
Triathlon Shop if that's your thing (Southside). Alpine Bikes (10m walk from TBC). Bike Co-op (Bruntsfield)
Velo Ecosse just down the hill from the coop is worth a look, had some bargains from there. Quite a few other little shops but thats probably the main ones. Edinburgh Bike Coop is the biggest but that doesn't mean they'll have what you want in the size you want or that the staff will be all that helpful. Alpine Bikes are ok but it was better years ago when it was a privately run shop, can't remeber the name. The Bike Chain are on here a lot, organising rides etc and so far seem like a good bunch, can't ride but I guess thats because they are all work and no play ๐
the bike chain, good staff very knowledgable people.
Our riding quality varies from Dasa being Ex World Cup BMX racer wiv stripes n everyfink, to James who is pretty handy DH, to Tom who can ride as long as it's on a tourer for 30k miles round the world, to Onion who likes XTR a lot, to me who talks a good game... Jimmy starts today, yet to see his speciality.
We would love to welcome you - let me know when you appear and the kettle will be on!

Oh and thanks Juan - paypal is on it's way 8)
Alpine Bikes were nice when I bought mine there.
Great stuff thanks everyone, had a look on google maps and we're staying in the middle of most shops which is good, will give you a shout when i arrive (bike chain) thanks ๐
Ace.
See you later.

Williamsons, spent my formative mtb years working there, along with mcmoonter and others.
Thats what I thought, memory tells me it was an Aladdins cave of Hope, Pace etc but memory aint what it used to be.
Well i ended up at the bike chain and i have to say it was great, really good lads, good stuff, nice bikes and plenty of chat! I would thoroughly recommend friends to go there and will call in again next time i'm up this way,
Cheers tbc,
Mark
